Vitamins for Hair Growth

There are a number of vitamins that promote hair growth and help maintain a clean and healthy scalp. In fact, the intake of vitamins can also prevent hair loss and is considered to be one of the best methods of promoting hair growth. It is a method used by a large number of people to guarantee steady and attractive hair growth.  This is primarily because vitamins enable a completely healthy functioning of the body, which translates to positive effects on the hair and scalp as well.
  • Vitamin A helps maintain a steady rate of hair growth and strengthens the hair shaft as well. It is for this reason that it is used in a variety of hair conditioners. There are a variety of B Vitamins, most important of which are vitamin B12 and vitamin B5 that help in hair growth, and more specifically in preventing hair loss, and premature greying of hair respectively. These B vitamins are usually found in dairy, whole grain, meat and eggs.
  • Vitamin C and vitamin D also play similar roles, as the former absorbs iron and promotes hair growth while the latter reduces hair loss by strengthening the hair shaft and follicle. In fact vitamin C, (much like vitamin A) is an antioxidant, which makes sure that the sebaceous glands (that secrete oil and nourish the hair, keeping it healthy) are fully operational and functioning at an optimum level.
  • Vitamin E is extremely important from the perspective of hair growth since it aids circulation of blood through the scalp, which creates the basic conditions to facilitate hair growth. These vitamins can be found quite easily in food that we eat. In fact, this is precisely why a healthy diet and lifestyle can be understood as helpful to the process of steady and attractive hair growth.

The most important food sources for these vitamins include meat such as chicken, beef, turkey, poultry (especially egg yolk), dairy, vegetables such as spinach, fruits, and yeast apart from other regular vegetables, grains, so on and so forth.

Thus it is quite evident that vitamins play a crucial role in ensuring hair growth. Not only do these vitamins promote hair growth, most of them also have the added utility of preventing hair lossand strengthening or improving the quality of hair as well as the quantity. This is why sometimes, if an individual is unable to consume enough vitamins through his or her diet, then it becomes absolutely essential for the individual to procure supplements from the market. These vitamins not only regulate the balance and harmonious functioning of all bodily activities, they are, as is evident, a critical aspect of hair maintenance and growth. Thus by all means, it is necessary for all individuals to consume enough vitamins through a properly balanced and fully nutritious diet.
